Floor is in

Apparently my truck is rated to pull 5000 pounds. I don't think I would ever attempt that though. We had quite a load on it on Friday, not 5000 pounds but definitely quite a bit. She did fine but it was slow going on Monarch Pass, not to mention driving with a trailer at anytime adds a degree of unwanted stress...just one more thing to worry about....is something flying off the trailer....oh is my back half in oncoming traffic..etc.

Anyway, the floor of the cabin is in and we managed to get a fair amount of sup
ply for next time up there as well.

The lady working the palm nailer...gotta love a woman that can handle pneumatic tools...well at least this woman....I am sure there are some pretty gnarly chicks out there into this sort of thing.

Putting the floor in...

And done!!!

Miami

I dig really low light distorted photos....such as my blog header. Here is one I found on my camera just a minute ago. This one actually would have been good if I actually did it with my SLR, tripod and appropriate shutter speed and aperture but for a point and shoot it captures the essence. We went to Miami about a month ago or so for our friend's medical school graduation. I had never been to Miami before. Crazy place. Very fun though. This picture is of the downtown cityscape at night from her balcony.

The Enchanted Circle

Last weekend we headed down to Angel Fire, New Mexico. The In-laws have some land down there...and they were down there too so we made a trip down. It was really nice to get away, get outside, and....experience staying in an RV for the first time. Talk about deluxe; the thing was fully equipped with everything one could ever want.

Soooo, we spent the weekend cycling, hiking around, working a bit an
d just doing a lot of lounging as well.
Oh there was also an Antique Bike Meeting going on in town. Check out this cruiser!

Mud Season

Man, it was real nice to be up in Pitkin this past weekend, even with all the mud. I ended up going by myself which was a new experience for me. Its dead silent up there...so when you are by yourself, you are really by yourself. It gave me a lot of time to think and to get some work done.

The snow melt run off is a little out of control this year. Usually things get a little damp but upon my arrival there was a pretty good wash of water flowing across the property. I decided now would be the best time to dig a stream to dry things out and to create a diversion for the future. One day later and 100 feet of ditch done and I had a pretty steady flowing stream across the place.

I got some other work done as well allowing for the floor deck to be put in next time. I went down to the pond before leaving and it was beautiful.....sun was low and the colors were just screaming.

Summer School

Yesterday I did something that I don't think I have ever done in my life. I dropped a class to make my life easier. For the past few years I have been on a fairly rigorous schedule with school and work. This summer I reached the breaking point though. During my few weeks off I had time to ride my bike, spend time with the lady in my life, do other fun things and starting last week I was watching all that disappear for the summer. I kept on telling myself that it was only eight weeks but then I kept on thinking that that's what I have been telling myself for the past two years. I finally decided that it just wasn't worth it...so I have one class now and I just might get some summer back.

In the Weather

Beyond work, I am having a hard time sitting in front of the computer when the weather is beyond beautiful out. Actually.....including work, I am having a hard time with the above. For the past two weeks I have had no school, a fair amount of work but a whole lot of extra time to be on my bike. It has been wonderful....but tomorrow I go back to school. Luckily, it is only on Tuesday and Thursday evening so i am hoping it doesn't take over the summer.

This weekend I plan to head up to the cabin site for the first time this year. They have had a ridiculous amount of snow up there this season so it should be interesting to see what the status is.
